Chocolate Mud Pie is yet another new flavor from Blue Bell, and so far they've all been homeruns...except for this one. Although I can't say its my favorite flavor, its not bad. Rich chocolate ice cream with swirls of whipped topping and fudge sauce and pieces of mixed nut shortbread. I actually love everything about this flavor EXCEPT for the shortbread pieces, they were a little too dry and crunchy. I wish they had been more soft and chewy like the vanilla wafers in the banana pudding ice cream. I give Chocolate Mud Pie 4 out of 5 scoops for classic dessertiness.
Oh Lydia ... i had this just 4 days ago and loved everything about it, INCLUDING those little chunks of shortbread. In my batch, they were indeed chewy! I would give this 4/5 stars just because it isn't quite as bodacious as the chock-full chocolate flavors like dessert trio and nutty chocolate. :)
